Crystal Bridges: A Thank You To Alice Walton (Walmart) for sharing her P-A-S-S-I-O-N.

As I  mentioned, I recently spent some time in Northwest Arkansas.  It kind of blew my mind; this was my second visit in about six years and the growth is spectacular. (For those who are unfamiliar with the area, it is the birthplace of the Walton five-and-dime stores and now the world domination Headquarters for Walmart. For many, it conjures images of American's simple heartland and the contradiction of unprecedented corporate greed.)  One impressive addition since my last visit is the much anticipated Crystal Bridges, an American art museum.  I can't stop talking about it; the experience was truly like no other.  Both inside and out, Crystal Bridges is one of the most beautiful, inspiring places I've been to in a long time...and well, the dust doesn't typically settle on my suitcase.

Surrounded by 120 acres of breathtaking Ozark scenery, Crystal Bridges is the multimillion dollar art museum gifted to Bentonville, Arkansas area by Alice Walton (aka Walmart's heiress).  In the press,  Walmart usually receives attention for employees being underpaid or healthcare coverage not always being offered to those who need it most. The beauty and generosity displayed at Crystal Bridges is a stark contrast.   Walmart donated $20 million to the museum ensuring there would be no admission charge; this wonderland is open and accessible to all.  Clearly, Alice is passionate about art and sharing her love of it. She reminds us that art shouldn't be exclusive, art isn't just at home in the big city.

I love it when someone shares their passion with me! By doing so, you really open a part of your world and allow someone to get to know you in a deeper way. Because really, passion is much of what make us unique. In our culture, we are defined by what we like and how we spend our time. I think that is why I enjoy this blog so much. It allows me to share my passion of encouraging people (and businesses) to harness what they do best to succeed and combines my love of writing and photography.

What are you passionate about?

Passion is what makes life worth it.  It's what gets you out of bed in the morning, what motivates you to do MORE or that thing you most look forward to doing on your precious weekends.
